Apartment Therapy Color Contest

CLICK HERE TO VOTE FOR ME

I'm so excited to report that the entry I submitted to the Apartment Therapy Color Contest has made it to the internet! Woooo.... now it's up to the people of the land to vote for me!

I included photos of the babe and the dog... they've got to be good for something, right?! And it's about time they start pulling their weight around here. There are already comments hassling me for using my cute pals.

There are five lovely photos of our living room & sunroom... check 'em out here -and kindly offer your thumbs up while you're there.

I'll love you forever if you could give me a thumbs up! Voting is only open for 46 more hours, so don't delay. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Oh, Athens, I miss you

Maybe it's because I left before I had the baby, but things were easier when I lived in Athens (Georgia). It's a small town, I know, and things are easier in a small town and without a baby (obviously). But somehow this feels different. Probably because I was in Athens for more than 12 years -it's home and will probably always be home. It's been just over a year since I left Athens and I sure miss it a lot...

To-do lists were completed in time to have a beer at Flicker before the day was done. And even though the summers are hot, sticky, sweaty, and wildly uncomfortable, everyone still goes out, making the most of the summer before the rascally students come back and trashing and trafficking the town.

A few key people, places, and other generalities I miss most:
Amanda & Bain
The National Restaurant
friendly & familiar faces everywhere
cheap beer and rent
easy college days and the early days of romance
wide porches and flat streets
To keep up with the loal haps, I listen to WUGA, read the Flagpole, and regularly tune in to the Athens-Clarke County police radio scanner.

Don't get all sad and feel sorry for us; my next blog post will be about how lovely San Francisco has been.

Maps

I was just going through some photos of our old house and studio and wanted to share a few maps. I sold the map in my office at a studio sale and the yellow map was unfortunately crumpled during the move. The moving company basically just jammed it into a box.

One day I'll buy another map for the baby's room and we can learn about each state! The first state we'll talk about is Maine because I love sharing my two facts about Maine... it's the only state with one syllable! And it's also the only state bordered by only one other state (amongst the lower 48, that is). Yay Maine!

Our Weekend

A great weekend was had here on the homefront. Chris and I recently celebrated our birthdays... we're both Virgos! My family came 'round for a lovely brunch on Saturday afternoon. My stepdad made these killer breakfast burritos and I made pancakes. In lieu of birthday cake, we picked up a few pints of ice cream from the super delish Humphry Slocombe... Tahitian Vanilla, Blue Bottle Vietnamese Coffee, Hibiscus Iced Tea (sorbet), and Secret Breakfast (whiskey and cornflake clusters). They were all a big hit with the family!

Sunday was a big fun football day. Some friends came over and we all sat around... been waiting for 8 months to do that. Highlights include Packers great win against the Bears and Dynamo Donuts!

Throughout the weekend, we tested out the new Beatles Rock Band (happy birthday, Chris). Everyone approves, even the baby, who's quite enamored with the drumsticks!
