Wedding Invitations

I just realized that I never posted photos of my wedding invitations! When Chris and I got engaged, I didn't really know what I wanted in a wedding. I knew a whole bunch of things I didn't want since I'd been immersed in the wedding industry. Do I have to tell you that we didn't do a money dance or garter toss? Surely you know me well enough, right?

One thing I knew I HAD TO HAVE was invitation posters from the greatest printing company in all the land: Hatch Show Print. They're amazing, historic, and just plain fun! I've loved them forever and they were a major inspiration for me to go into the design & printing industry. We had posters made for the invite and then I created reply cards & additional information cards with hotel info, our wedding website, etc. And I was able to use my vintage stamps on the reply envelopes!

West Coast Party Times

Last weekend we had a big fun party in Columbia, CA. (I wrote about the invites awhile back)! My mom and stepdad hosted a wedding reception for Chris and me because most of my family couldn't make it to the wedding in Georgia! We had so much fun... grilled chicken sandwiches, salads, watermelon, and a couple of kegs of beer for good measure (and good fun). I made yummy zucchini cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (thanks, Martha Stewart!). The kiddies didn't even know that they were eating vegetables! Haha. I'm sure there's enough sugar to cancel out any of the veggie goodness.

Chris and some pals played us a few tunes- bluegrass & eighties pop (yep, you heard me right, buck-o). My mom made fans with photos from the Athens wedding and stuck them in the flower centerpieces. They were invaluable because it was 100+ degrees that day! She also framed our invitations and other photos and nailed them to the side of the house. Oh, and all that gravel and flagstone... yeah, my mom did that too!

I took some shots with my new Holga camera, but haven't developed them yet. Stay tuned for some Holga handsomeness!

Our Bathroom

I love our bathroom! A nice bathroom in a rental is hard to find, my friends! The bathtub is deep and luxurious, the windows are the coolest in the land, and there is a great nook for plants. Nice paint, recessed lighting, and lots of storage are other plusses.

To decorate, I photocopied a few favorite images from a book with photos from the early 1900s and framed them in inexpensive Ikea frames. WIth the humidity of a bathroom, I didn't want to put up anything fancy that could get ruined. This is a great way to display art and keeps with the tailored look of our vintage-modern bathroom. (I know vintage-modern is an oxymoron, but I'm using the term anyway. If you've got a better term, I'm all ears.)

One nice thing about renting is you find out things you love or hate in a house. We will never ever ever have white tile anywhere in our home! It's impossible to clean without bleaching the crap out of it! And after you bleach it, it stays white for about 11 seconds. Needless to say, I took this photo 10 seconds after cleaning the bathroom. Another thing we'll never have is cabinets with little ledges. Holy hell, they're hard to clean.

Vintage Stamped Notecards

I love stamps and I've finally found a purpose for my collection. Stamp collectors may cringe if they see these, but I really love using vintage stamps on my letters and invitations. I've put together a collection of blank notecards & envelopes and paired them with a unique collection of vintage stamps. The stamps have enough postage to last through a few more USPS rate increases!

You'll receive the collection of 4 different cards!
•purple stamps on a square ivory envelope with a light green round card
•blue stamps on a square turquoise envelope with a dark blue square card
•red stamps on a rectangular ivory envelope with a light turquoise rectangular card
•yellowish stamps on a rectangular kraft envelope with a light green rectangular card

They're available now in the JetKat Etsy Shop!!
